GITPRO Leadership Talk

Leadership - The Indian Way :

All Management principles as we know today come from Europe and America and based on Greek and biblical mythologies (you can call it themes for those who are allergic to word mythological). We are somewhat aware of Chinese models thanks to work on Sun Tzu. But what about Indian models? Is there something uniquely Indian out there which can add value to our lives? Something that has been lost and can truly enrich our lives, our businesses and our world? A journey through unique ideas revealed in Indic mythologies.

Mr. Devdutt Pattnaik, author, Management Consultant & TED Speaker

Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik is a leadership coach and inspirational speaker. He writes and lectures extensively on the relevance of mythology in matters related to leadership, entrepreneurship, branding, management and governance. He serves as Chief Belief Officer of the Future Group. To know about this role and designation click here. And is also story consultant to Star TV.

His columns on management and culture that appear in Economic Times are a hit with general and specialist readers. His show Business Sutra with CNBC-18 and Shastrarth with CNBC-awaaz are popular with viewers for their innovative approach and simplicity. He has written over 25 books for everyone from adults to children, for youth to business executives.

GITPRO Management Talk on Agile Development

Software Best Practices: Agile Deconstructed

This tutorial will explore the intersection of agility and software development in a world of legacy code-bases and large distributed teams. Organizations with hundreds of developers and code-bases of a million or more lines of code are seeking new ways to expedite development while retaining and attracting staff who desire to apply "agile" methods. Now agile practices are embraced outside of their usual zone (small co-located teams) of applicability where "projects pick agility" rather than "agility picks projects". Now practitioners must understand both what "best practices" already exist in the organization-and how they might be improved or modified by applying "agile" approaches.

Effective Communication For Success in Project Management and Career

Effective communication is a key to getting work done, influence others, resolve conflicts and succeed in projects and career

Benny Kirsh, CIO of InfloBox. Earlier CIO of The Cooper Companies and Kyphon.

    Abstract

Anthony Robbins says that “To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.”

Conveying your message is most important for achieving professional objectives. To do so you must identify your audience, be clear about the message and how it will be perceived. Communication is only successful when both the sender and the receiver understand the same information as a result of effective communication.

In recent surveys of recruiters and project leaders , communication skills were the most important skill cited by the recruiters required for a management position and by project managers for success in projects. In spite of the increasing importance placed on communication skills, many individuals continue to struggle with this, unable to communicate their thoughts and ideas effectively.

    Take Aways

    - The focal point of this work shop is effective communications.
