Background

There are around 2.2 million (according to NASSCOM) IT professionals in India and a million more professionals working across the globe. Indian IT professionals are respected for their intelligence, experience, work ethic and above all, their ability to communicate fluently in English. Many IT companies employ significant number of Indian-origin professionals. Many industry leaders openly attribute their success to the significant contributions made by their Indian-origin employees.

What is the need for GITPRO?

Today, there are a few organizations where IT professionals of Indian origin participate. Some of these organizations represent entrepreneurs, some others represent specific professions within IT and some are focused only on certain geographical areas of the world. With membership across all such boundaries, GITPRO represents all IT Professionals of Indian Origin.

Mission

The mission of GITPRO is:

  1. To be the voice of the IT Professional of Indian Origin in the area of continuing professional advancement, policy-making and all aspects of professional lives of its members.
  2. To be an active networking forum for its members to contribute to each other’s professional advancement and to share interests in specific areas of technology.
  3. To be an active resource that serves local and Indian origin communities across the globe with its skills and abilities.

Objectives

  • To bring together Indian origin professionals working in the fields of software and hardware.
  • GITPRO is organized exclusively for technical, educational, cultural and charitable purposes.
  • To conduct conferences, seminars and other educational programs to educate members of the latest developments and trends in the industry.
  • To offer mentorship and leadership programs for the benefit of the members.
  • To advocate the issues related to the IT profession.
  • To interact with educators and policy makers to continuously improve IT related education.
  • To work with and contribute to qualifying not-for-profit organizations.
  • To provide mutual understanding and cooperation between this association and other associations in the United States and India.
