Rupa Dachere is the Founder and Executive Director of CodeChix.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education, promotion and mentorship of women engineers. She is also a Member of Technical Staff at VMware and holds Advisory roles at the Stanford GAP-For-Good program and the Dept. of Computer Science, University of Colorado, Boulder.
Rupa started CodeChix as a grassroots group in her living room in 2009 to address the needs of women engineers in industry and academia and has grown it into an organization with chapters in the Bay Area and Seattle. She has self-funded CodeChix and hopes to inspire other women engineers to follow their dreams and passions while being financially independent.
Rupa is the recipient of the IEEE Meritorious Award for Informal Education and the Anita Borg Institute’s Pass-It-On Award. Rupa did her Computer Science studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder and is an active technical speaker at conferences like PyCon, OSCON, USENIX, Silicon Valley Code Camp, Grace Hopper Conference and others. Her dream is to one day have parity in the number of female and male engineers in academia and industry. Learn more about her at rupadachere.com.
